With over 25 years of professional experience in the performing arts, James (he/him) is an award-winning vocalist and educator who has performed internationally in opera, musical theatre, and concert settings, including appearances with Queensland Opera, Merola Opera Program, The Kurt Weill Festival, The Auckland Festival, and the Argento Ensemble—whose performance of Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde was named a Top Ten Performance of 2015 by the New York Concert Review.
A winner of both the Lotte Lenya Competition and Joy in Singing Competition, James brings deep expertise in vocal technique, interpretation, and storytelling across classical, art song, and contemporary musical theatre repertoire. James is passionate about helping singers develop healthy, expressive, sustainable vocalism rooted in authentic artistry. His students range from Broadway professionals to emerging classical singers. His students have been accepted into major music conservatories as well as renowned musical theatre college programs.
James has studied voice with Dr. Robert White, Joan Patenaude-Yarnell, César Ulloa, Neil Rosenshein and Emily Mair.
