After an extraordinarily satisfying and successful world première of Anthony Ritchie's This Other Eden at the Otago Arts Festival, James is performing a recital with his wife Jillian Zack in Greytown, New Zealand.

With Exiled: The Evolution of Kurt Weill live in San Francisco only a week away, James is very excited about the prospect of returning to San Francisco where he has such great memories of his summer in the Merola Opera Program. He hopes that those of you in the Bay Area will be able to make it out for the performance.

James has returned home to New York after a highly successful and extremely exhausting run of Young Frankenstein at the Mac-Haydn Theater. He now delves into preparations for a busy few months ahead which include concerts in San Francisco and New Zealand as well as the world premiere of Anthony Ritchie's new opera This Other Eden.

Having released Exiled: The Evolution of Kurt Weill on March 2nd, James is very excited to announce that the live program associated with the album will recieve its first performance in the United States on August 30th in San Francisco. James will be joined again at the piano by his wife Jillian Zack and the program will be presented at the beautiful home of Peter Winklestein. Peter's wife Barbara was a hugely important inspiration for the creation of the album so James is honored to return to the place where the concept began for this performance.

Exiled: The Evolution of Kurt Weill was released worldwide on March 2nd, and was quickly followed by the launch of the companion website on March 3rd.
This project presents this music in a vibrant way, staying true to the style of this unusual composer, whilst enlightening the listener about Weill's life and times. This marks the culmination of years of research, and hours in the studio with pianist Kenneth Merrill. James is delighted with the result and hopes you will have an opportunity to not only listen to the album, but also explore the website to learn more about Weill and his remarkable story.

Currently in New York, James is working intensively with voice teacher Dr. Robert White and is preparing for his upcoming performance in the title role of Benjamin Britten's Albert Herring with the Indianapolis Opera.
He is also delighted to report that he will be returning to New Zealand later in the year for another very exciting project. Stay tuned for more information on that.

James is having a blast directing Kenneth Merrill's seminar in the upcoming production of "The Rape of Lucretia" at the Manhattan School of Music. The show has only one performance on Tuesday, December 17th in Ades Performance Space at the Manhattan School.

James is very much looking forward to working with pianist Kathleen Tagg as they prepare for next weekends performance of selections from Ben Moore's Dear Theo in New York.
